Results of this year's auditions are available under the Audition Results tab at the top of the page.
Here are the links for the Millennial Choir music. Click each of the buttons to get to the download link. The only one I'm worried about is Yo le Canto. If it does not work, please comment on this post to let me know. I will post a different one if it doesn't work, but I'd much rather you listen to this recording.
Enjoy your break! Here are the recordings of River in Judea, Vere Languores Nostros, and Voices of the Night. Use them to keep the music fresh and to memorize.
Ovation! Here is the recording of Blessed is the Man from the Wednesday. You need to listen to the recording and evaluate the ensemble based on where we are right now. You can use the following form to help you evaluate: As part of your evaluation, determine two specific things that we can improve on to make our performance better. To help you, here are two videos of choirs performing it well. On Wednesday December 11, 2013, the students in Millennial and Ovation! choirs will perform in different venues on Temple Square in Salt Lake City. Here is the schedule for parents and students:
Students will be excused from school at the beginning of 3rd hour (10:55). We will have a brief combined rehearsal for "The Man with the Bag and Santa Baby" after which students will have about 10 minutes to change into their concert attire. Students are not allowed to change on the bus or in Salt Lake City. At 11:15, the wonderful ladies in the cafeteria will have lunch ready for those who desire to eat school lunch. Students should be fed, changed, and ready to go on the bus by 11:30!!! I understand that this isn't much time, so do what you need to in order to be ready. Our performance schedule goes as follows: 1:00 pm - Church Office Building 2:00 pm - Joseph Smith Memorial Building 7:00 pm - North Visitor's Center (Theatre 5) 8:30 pm - Assembly Hall Between our performances at the Joseph Smith Memorial Building and North Visitor's Center, we will take a few group pictures on the grounds and then students will have some time to eat dinner and be social. No students can go anywhere alone and all students need to be in the North Visitor's Lobby at 6:30 to line up for our 7:00 pm performance. Please bring warm clothing. As of 15 minutes ago, the high in Salt Lake is supposed to be 34 degrees. Ladies, wear sweat pants under your dress and make sure you bring a jacket. Don't plan on using a boy's jacket (we only have 14 boys anyway). Don't bring a lot of stuff as you won't really have anywhere to put it. It's just a bigger hassle for you. Following our performance at the Assembly Hall, we will walk to the buses (parked behind the church history library), load, and head home. I'm expecting to be back at the high school by 10:45 pm with a detour at the dirt spot. Students are more than welcome to ride home with parents, but I need to know beforehand so we don't send our a search party for you. Temple Square, here we come! We are now only 2 days away from Millennial Choir's concert with the University of Utah Women's Chorus. We cannot wait for this fabulous opportunity!
Here is (hopefully) all the information and parents will need regarding this event. We will leave MHS right after school at 12:30 (Friday is early release for end of term). We plan to stop at the dirt spot so students that would like to leave their cars their may do so. If you plan to leave your car there, please leave quickly after school to ensure you are there when we get there with the bus. Students need to bring their concert attire (Dresses, nylons, shoes) and we will change at the University. Also, bring a lunch to eat on the bus as we drive. We will practice with the U of U Women's Chorus from 2 - 3, take a tour of facilities from 3-4, and then participate in a master class with the U of U voice faculty from 4 - 5. From 5 - about 5:30, we will have time of our own to practice in the concert hall. After our practice, we will have pizza from The Pie Pizzeria for those interested. Please bring $4 to cover the cost. We will then have time to change and socialize with the students in the U of U Women's Chorus before the concert. Our concert begins at 7:30 with MHS singing first, U of U singing second, and then a combined number at the end. I have distributed tickets to students for you so you don't have to pay to get in. You will need to pay for any additional tickets ($7 adults, $3 students). Parents, please plan to arrive very early to the concert! There is very little parking and you will be competing with the 5A football semifinal for those parking places. Here is a link to the University's parking map (copy and paste the link into a new browser): http://www.map.utah.edu/?WT.svl=map_topnav Once at this site, be sure to check visitor parking to find places close to David Gardener Hall. Gardener Hall is located on the Northwest corner of President's Circle which is the Northwest corner of the University campus (about 200 south and University street). Plan to walk about 5 - 10 minutes from wherever you park. If you are able, you can utilize TRAX to make things a little easier. TRAX has a stop at Rice-Eccles Stadium which is just a few minute walk from David Gardener Hall. Following the concert, your student is more than welcome to ride home with you rather than on the bus. We will probably be back in Here are tracks for you to practice your parts in preparation for our concert on Friday. Copy and paste the link for "J'entends le moulin" into a new browser and download it. "Johnny said, No" is the embedded youtube video. Happy practicing!
